To be able to visit the JCR international school in Karuizawa was an absolute privilege. What an interesting initiative: A small group of young rheumatologists/scientists under the supervision of prominent professors in a unique setting whereby creating an open and friendly atmosphere to lively discus research. I was impressed at the high quality of the lectures and presentations and a lot of valuable feedback was given. I have learned a lot these three days. Therefore I can only highly recommend this experience to all young rheumatologists.

It was my great pleasure and honor to participate in JCR international school 2018. In this seminar, after 15 minutes presentation, another 15 minutes was prepared for lively discussion. I could get new insights and valuable suggestions about my work, and this rewarding discussion time also enabled me to deepen my understanding of other presentators’ research contents.
It was very impressive to interact with many rheumatologists including colleagues from abroad. Their enthusiasm motivated me so much to advance my research. I could also enjoy shopping, cycling, sightseeing and talking with new friends.
Finally, I would like to appreciate all the organizing committee members sincerely for their hospitality. This is a precious chance to improve oral presentation skill in English and to make friends from all over the world. I hope this wonderful international seminar will continue in the future.

It was my great pleasure to have the opportunity to attend the JCR International School 2018. It was great meeting the wonderful people from different facilities in Japan and distant countries.
We got a lot of chances to discuss the clinical and basic research in 15 minutes Q and A session. During the dinner party, free time, or conversations in a hotel room with my wonderful roommate, we also exchanged our ideas and opinions. I was encouraged a lot by knowing that there are companions of passionate rheumatologists of the same age all over the world. Although I’m not still good at English, I was able to overcome my fear of speaking in English especially in front of the audience. Now I definitely got motivated to train more to be able to make discussion with people from all over the world.
Last but not least, I’d like to express my gratitude to all doctors and secretariats who made exertions to hold the seminar. Especially, I’d like to give a special thanks to my tutor, De. Yamaoka.

I would like to thank all of the tutors and JCR international school committee for giving me the opportunity to join this seminar. Although I was so nervous on the first day, the pre-seminar lecture “Presentation Tips for Doctors and Q & A; A Strategies Workshop” made us relax and gave me an opportunity to start our conversation. I was very impressed by the lecture, which gave me a lot of important lessons for making effective presentations.

It was also a pleasure for me to meet many presenters and listen to their great presentations. In addition, the 15-minutes’ discussion after the presentation deepened my understanding of the topics. I really appreciated tutors’ instructions and participants’ advice.

I would like to recommend my colleagues to participate in the seminar next year.

It was my great pleasure to participate in JCR international school 2018 in Karuizawa. Actually, I was so nerves before the meeting because I was not very used to speak English, and I couldn’t sleep well the night before. But the younger researchers around the world were very friendly and we had a fun meal time, in addition, Karuizawa was beautiful resort and very comfortable to stay, so I finally felt at ease on the second day. Of course the Q and A session was so hard, but I also enjoyed the exciting discussion, and the 15-minutes passed in an instant.
I had a great time so I will strongly recommend many young researchers to participate in the next JCR international school. And last but not least, I’d like to thank our tutors and all JCR committee members for providing this wonderful opportunity.

It was my great honor to have attended the 6th JCR International School in Karuizawa. I would like to thank the organizing committee of JCR and all the participants. It was my first time to Karuizawa, and I really enjoyed the comfortable weather and the exciting meeting. On the first day, professor E. H. Jego gave us the lecture of “Presentation Tips for Doctors and Q&A Strategies Workshop”. I think it was the best lecture I ever heard on how to improve the oral presentation. The tips for the oral presentation were really practical and helpful. The keynote lectures by professor Lai-Shan Tam, professor Hiroshi Takayanagi, and professor Yukinori Okada were very impressive and informative. The scientific programs contained 8 sessions. All the participants presented their research within 15 minutes and discussed with the other participants for 15 minutes. I would like to thank my tutor professor Kei Ikeda and the senior faculty for giving us young rheumatologists valuable comments and suggestions. I also enjoyed the welcome party and cocktail party in the evening.

It was really a great experience, and I highly recommend young rheumatologists to attend the JCR international school to share scientific work and communicate with other young scientists.

However, it was a wonderful experience for me to present my research and communicate with young investigators and tutors, which gave me the motivation and the confidence to study Rheumatology. I will recommend my colleagues to participate this conference.

The participation of JCR international school 2018 was an unforgettable experience for me. I found out that young rheumatologists around the world are conducting excellent research. It has become a stimulus to make my research even harder in the future. It was also a great pleasure that I had a good friendship with young rheumatologists of Japan and counterparts. It was also an opportunity to make good friendships with young rheumatologists in Japan and around the world.
My presentation was awkward and the question and answer in English was also awkward, but it was a good experience. During the three-day period I felt I had developed in communication.
I would recommend JCR international school to Korean young rheumatists.
I am very grateful for having a good opportunity.

I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to participate in JCR International School 2018 in KARUIZAWA. It was so challenging for me to understand presentations about various area of rheumatology and immunology. But it’s also exiting to be exposed to the advanced researches and active discussions. In addition, I was impressed by useful and excellent lectures by experts from various fields.
On the other hand, I had been very nervous about my presentation and discussion time. Because I talked about surgical treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, I was worried that other participants were not interested in my talk. But I could enjoy my session helped by many other participants who joined the discussion.
Finally, I would like to thank all participants, the members of JCR International School Committee, especially my tutor, Dr Ito for his kind support.

It was really my honor to attend the 2018 JCR international school. I was impressed that the meeting was so well organized and informative to young rheumatologist. During the memorable three days in Karuizawa, I got the chance to learn from senior rheumatologist, to share insights with colleagues all over the world, and to discuss with young rheumatologists of my generation. JCR international school is one of the most rewarding school I have attended since I finished medical school. We not only practiced presenting scientific work under the guidance of our tutors, but also got trained on the presentation skills and “Q & A” strategies. The senior supervisor guided us through their great talks and discussion of students’s work. A wide range of topics were covered in this school so that we got the chance to enlarge our view in science. I was impressed that everyone, including the students, the tutors, and the lecturers, showed their passion for science. I would like to sincerely appreciate the organizer of this school. Thank you for providing such fantastic opportunity.

I feel thankful and honored for the invitation to JCR International School 2018. It was a nice experience to contact many clinicians and researchers in rheumatology of the same generation. I was impressed to know that there were many competent and smart young researchers; some showed quite extraordinary insights into immunology. The meeting was also educative for me, as I learned much about many other research areas which I was still unfamiliar with and I could know what sort of research they were dedicated to in each institution. The preparation process with my tutor, Dr Kobayashi was also very helpful for me to brush up my presentation slides. Although the meeting was all about immunology and rheumatology, it should be difficult for everyone to completely understand each other’s research data. My tutor gave me a lot of tips to make my presentation clear-cut and easy to understand. I’ like to recommend all the researchers to take part in JCR International School and have an exciting time.
